To live in a place...

Where there is a mosque in the corner, next to a church, surrounded by Chinese and Hindi people, where you are considered white and a foreigner yet respected and kindly helped every step of the way (though many have pointed out that I am, in fact, brown) and everyone gets along. I play football every Sunday to the sounds of chants from a nearby mosque while the Latin American people that make the teams call them "las barras bravas" however, I am sure we would all miss those chants if they were taken away. All of this makes you wonder what can possibly be so wrong with my Country (Venezuela) where we all share the same racial and religious background, where, as far as I can remember, no such divides existed.

What virus got to us? what anomaly is to blame?; needless to say if you are from Venezuela this is a very dumb question, however, it is time for those who are not from Venezuela to stop idolizing or just rooting for our virus/anomaly just because he can put up a show!!! (yes, calling someone the devil in front of millions of cameras is just that, a show, and everyone who laughed with it was really laughed AT in the end, did you know Venezuela's largest oil client is the US??? did you know that despite the supposed diplomatic conflicts trade relations are just as good as they have always been?).

This and many questions like it trouble my mind nowadays, I will try to be lighter in the future and keep the dire stuff for yimeilnews.blogspot.com for now all I can say is we should try to stop thinking about what divides us and start embracing diversity, in the end someone has to take that first step.
